Sports Town's Cara De Carlo spoke with South Fayette's Mike Fetchet (170-lb class). Fetchet explained his own use of pacing in wrestling, and that conditioning had given him the strength to control the pace of a bout. South Fayette lost the match 35-30 to Burrell; the Lions are now WPIAL Class AA runner-ups.

South Fayette girls' swimming team has big presence on list of state's top marks

The top reported times in the state features a solid dose of swimmers from the South Fayette girls’ team.

The list includes the top reported times from all high school swimmers and divers in Pennsylvania, regardless of classification. South Fayette certainly has one of the best showings on the list of any WPIAL Class AA team.

Sophomore Madeline Bartrug and senior Morgan Fink headline the list of Lions.

South Fayette girls' swimming team captures Big Six championship

In the West Allegheny Christmas Invitational, the South Fayette girls showed they are the team to beat in the WPIAL and last week at the Big Six at Central York High School they showed they may very well be the team to beat in the state.

South Fayette totaled 481 points to outpoint West Allegheny (451), Central York (387), Boiling Springs (371), Scranton Prep (220) and Lancaster Catholic (144). This comes on the heels of a big win at the West Allegheny Invitational where they totaled 334 points to outpace Indiana (279) and West Allegheny (273).

Leading the way for the Lions was sophomore Maddie Bartrug and senior Morgan Fink.
