Alumni Update - Miranda Walters (Gannon)
Gannon junior defender Miranda Walters, a Shaler High School, graduate was a second-team selection on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference lacrosse team.Walters was named to the All-PSAC second team for the second consecutive season.
She played in every match this season, headlining a Gannon defense that ranked second among PSAC teams in scoring margin (4.94) and fourth in scoring defense (11.17). She recorded 38 ground balls, 15 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.
In addition, Walters scored twice in three attempts. She recorded at least three ground balls in a match seven times.
Walters has 116 ground balls, 34 draw controls and 38 caused turnovers during her three-year collegiate career.
Gannon, ranked fifth in the last two NCAA Division II South regional rankings, finished the season 12-6 overall and 9-2 in PSAC action. The Lady Knights entered the postseason as the PSAC regular-season co-champions after trying Lock Haven and West Chester for first place in the conference standings.
Head coach Lindsey Lowman's club won 12 matches for the fourth consecutive season, reaching double digits in wins for the eighth straight campaign.
The Lady Knights finished one victory shy of the school's single-season record for victories. The 1998 and 1999 teams hold the single-season record with identical 13-2 marks.
The team's nine conference wins also represented the most during the program's four years in the PSAC.
