Alumni Update - Troy Handza (California University of Pennsylvania)
California University of Pennsylvania senior outfielder Troy Handza, a Shaler High School graduate, was a second-team pick on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West baseball team.A four-year starter, Handza ranks among the league leaders with six triples and 20 stolen bases. He has posted a .297 average (46-for-155) with nine doubles, three homers, 23 RBI and 32 runs scored.
Handza currently ranks second in school and PSAC history with 99 stolen bases in his career behind former teammate Sam DiMatteo (115).
The Vulcans open play in the PSAC Tournament today when they face Shippensburg at 3:30 p.m. This season, the double-elimination tournament is hosted at Pullman Park in Butler.
