Now, considering the positions he plays for Shaler Area, this senior three-sport athlete is encouraged to lead by example on the football field, basketball court and baseball diamond.

Mincher quarterbacked the playoff-qualifying Shaler football team last fall. Currently, he is a guard who often plays the point position for the Titans basketball team that reached the WPIAL semifinals and was scheduled to compete in the PIAA second round Wednesday night. In the spring Mincher will start at shortstop for the Titans baseball team.

"Growing up, my dad always pushed me to lead by example," Mincher said. "If I was one of the better players on the team, people were going to strive to be as good. It is a good way to make your team better."
