Shaler hosts showcase basketball event

"A two-day basketball event that features some of the best high school teams and players in the country is coming to the Pittsburgh area.
The Planet Athlete Pitt National Showcase will be Jan. 21-22 at Shaler Area High School. The event has two teams ranked in the top 10 in the country, a number of players who are being recruited by major colleges, and also a few Western Pennsylvania teams.
The two powerhouse teams in the event are St. Benedict's of Newark, N.J., and Arlington Country Day of Jacksonville, Fla. Arlington Country Day is ranked No. 7 in the country by USA Today and St. Benedict's No. 10. On Jan. 21 at 7 p.m., Central Catholic of Pittsburgh will play St. Benedict's Prep."
