Catanese takes over Shaler girls soccer team

Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Former Shaler graduate, Shaler boys’ head coach and PIAA referee, Chris Catanese takes over the Shaler girls soccer program this year. He inherits a program that has struggled and has not made the playoffs in over two decades but he also inherits senior midfielder/forward Kristie Hamilton, an all-section player from last season who led the Titans with 15 goals.

Shaler showed promise last year going 8-9 overall and 6-6 in the section, their best section record of the decade.

Hamilton, senior center midfielder Maggie Terak and senior forward Maggie Boehler will be the two top scoring threats for Shaler. The defense will be anchored by junior Rachel Delancey.

Shaler opens its season Saturday at noon at home vs. Bethel Park.
