The Indians missed out on chances to score in the first when Paul McCullough was thrown out at the plate on a Hartz double and again in the sixth when the first two batters reached. Shady Side Academy's lone run came in the first when Charles Scales drove in Michael Holzinger.

Among the season highlights for Shady Side Academy were winning the Section 4-AA title, advancing to the WPIAL semifinals and earning a PIAA tournament berth. The Indians had separate winning streaks of nine and seven games, and they went 15-2 against WPIAL competition.
