"Facing the defending champion in the finals of the PIAA Class AAA boys tennis team tournament this past Saturday, Shady Side Academy understood it needed to come out immediately ready to give Conestoga its best shot.
The Indians did just that.
They were up a break during the first set of four of the five matches played.
"We came out on fire," Shady Side Academy co-head coach Jeff Miller said, his voice trailing off before adding: "But that team was really good."
The Indians came up one victory short of a PIAA championship for the second time in three seasons. Shady Side Academy will have to settle merely for its second WPIAL title in the past three years after losing, 4-1, to Conestoga in the PIAA final at the Hershey Racquet Club."
