Shady Side senior qualifies for PIAA tennis

"Vivek Nimgaonkar had already been to Hershey for a PIAA championship in team play ... twice.
He's also played in a couple PIAA doubles tournaments in Chocolate Town.
After two years of near-misses, Nimgaonkar finally gets to take part in a PIAA tournament on his own as a senior.
Nimgaonkar advanced to the WPIAL Class AAA singles tournament championship match before losing to Butler's Will Nesbitt this past Friday at North Allegheny. As one of the finalists, Nimgaonkar qualified for the PIAA Class AAA singles tournament that will take place next month.
"It's exciting," said Nimgaonkar, who lives in Point Breeze. "I've been to individual states for doubles twice, but singles, I've just sort of been on the cusp the last couple years. So it's good to go to states.""
