Sewickley Academy girls' soccer team finishes 21-2-1
Sewickley Academy posted a 21-win season this year that featured a Section 1-A title and a WPIAL runner-up medal.
The Panthers finished 21-2-1. It went a perfect 14-0 in Section 1-A and did not lose a single game during the regular season.
It’s only blemish in the regular season was a 0-0 tie against Class AA Quaker Valley. The Panthers rode a 19-game winning streak to the WPIAL final where it fell 2-0 to Greensburg Central Catholic.
Perhaps most impressive of all was the performance by the Sewickley Academy defense. In its season opener it allowed one goal in a 4-1 win at Mohawk. The defense did not allow its second goal of the season until Oct. 6, the 14th game of the season.
After the WPIAL finals, Sewickley Academy shut out District 5 champion Conemaugh Township before losing to Shady Side Academy 3-1 in the PIAA quarterfinals.
