"Clearly his own harshest critic, Colin Kaye's assessment of at least one part of his tennis game this past Friday was not a very glowing one.

"I definitely wish I could serve better," Kaye said from just outside the gate into the North Allegheny courts. "I wasn't very good with my serve today."

He served well enough to be a champion.

A junior at Sewickley Academy, Kaye won the WPIAL Class AA singles tournament championship with a 6-2, 6-3, victory against Panthers teammate Grayson Geller in the title match Friday at North Allegheny.

"It's the championship, there's always a lot of pressure," said Geller, a close friend of Kaye. "Everyone is under a lot of pressure, and he earned it. He did a good job.""
