Serra Catholic hockey team takes out frustration on Greensburg Central Catholic

Serra Catholic went 12-5-1 in 2011-12, but lost its first two of the 2012-13 season to Penguins Cup Class A title contenders Mars and Freeport.

But Serra responded with a resounding 13-0 win Monday night against Greensburg Central, which went 1-18 last season and is 0-3 this season.

Nicholas Vacsulka had a hat trick and added an assist in the win. Roman Kraemer and Ryan Bennett both added two goals.

Tyler Speis, the team’s leading scorer this season with seven points, had a goal and two assists.

In goal, Chen Pesecreta and Ian Ritchie both stopped 6-of-6 shots to preserve the shutout.

Serra will play Mars again Tuesday. The Planets beat Serra 6-2 on Nov. 5.
