Serra Catholic's Girman takes first loss of stellar baseball career

Written by Brad Everett on .

For more than three years, Serra Catholic star pitcher Alain Girman had never lost a game.

Extending that run to four full seasons won’t happen.

Girman took the loss in Serra’s 7-6 loss to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart last Wednesday. Prior to the defeat, Girman was a pristine 29-0 in his career, a string of victories that included a masterful performance in helping the Eagles win last season’s PIAA Class A championship.

Girman wasn’t the starting pitcher against OLSH, but entered the game as a reliever in the final inning with Serra leading by one run. He then surrendered a pair of runs, allowing the Chargers to gain the victory.

A day later, Girman started against Chartiers-Houston. Again, Girman took the loss, as the Bucs earned a 9-5 victory.

Serra has now lost three straight after falling at Bentworth on Saturday, dropping the Eagles’ record to 10-4 overall, 6-3 in Section 2. The Eagles will likely need to win two of their final three section games (Monessen; at Clairton; Bentworth) in order to make the playoffs.
