Serra Catholic hockey team's season ends in quarterfinals

Written by Chris Adamski on .

Brian Boehm's Twitter account said it all.

Hours after the Serra Catholic hockey team he coaches was knocked out of the PIHL Class A Penguins Cup playoffs this past Wednesday, Boehm took to Twitter (@boehmer15) to express his thoughts:

"Will miss (Garner Kraemer), (Travis Marzina), (Zachary Schindler) and (R.J. Kendi) more than you know. Congrats to (Kittanning). We will be back strong as ever."

It was a tough 4-1 defeat for No. 5 seed Serra to No. 4 Kittanning at the Belmont Ice Complex. The Eagles (12-6-2) out-shot the Wildcats, but, as Boehm put it, Kittanning goalie Cameron Langham "stood on his head... (Serra goalie) Travis (Marzina) was great too... Great back and forth play all night. No regrets."

"We make no xcuses. We had our biggest 9th grade class ever w/ more next year."

Boehm also said that Marzina, Kraemer and Schindler were going to Robert Morris next year and that Kendi was planning on attending Deerfield Academy, a prep school in Massachusetts that's known to prepare kids for NCAA hockey.

Serra won the Section 1 title this season and enjoyed a victory against Hampton, which won Section 4 and is alive in the Penguins Cup semifinals.
