Serra Catholic baseball team continues to roll

Written by Brad Everett on .

Serra Catholic has one of the top baseball teams in WPIAL Class A again this season.

The Eagles have more than proven that in recent weeks, winning five games in a row by a combined score of 59-8. The streak included consecutive wins against Geibel Catholic (17-0), Clairton (13-3) and Monessen (15-0). Serra’s most impressive win, however, might have been last Thursday’s 6-1 triumph at Bishop Canevin.

Serra Catholic softball team rallies for crucial win

Written by Nick Tolomeo on .

In the grand scheme of things, Serra Catholic's first section contest against West Greene this season is just one 14 section games this year. But the way the Eagles rallied and the way they ultimately won, may mean more than just another check in the win column.

Sitting at 2-1 in Class A, Section 2, Serra entered the game against West Greene with an ability to build a cushion in the section, or fall into the middle of the pack with a .500 record. It looked like the latter was going to be a likely outcome as the host Eagles fell behind 4-0.

Ryan Riordan's feature on Serra hockey:

"Minutes after Serra Catholic's season ended in a loss to Mars Area last Thursday in the PIHL Class A Penguins Cup quarterfinals, Eagles coach Brian Boehm turned to senior Tyler Speis.

"I told him I didn't want to leave the ice," Boehm said.

It was the last game for both of them at Serra Catholic."
