Seneca Valley hockey team remains perfect with comeback

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

Despite getting outshot 37-20, the Seneca Valley hockey team remained undefeated with a 4-3 win over Norwin Monday night.

The win was the Raiders third of the season, which equals their season total from last year.

All three wins have come against teams that made it to at least the Class AAA Penguins Cup quarterfinals last season.

In Monday’s game, Seneca Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Luke Reed and Brendan McFarlane, but Norwin scored the next three goals to take a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.

Benjamin Barrett tied the game 3:33 into the final period and McFarlane scored the game-winner with 2:36 remaining.

Seneca Valley’s leading scorer this season, Chris Marziotto, assisted on each of the final two goals.

Tanner Pfeffer stopped 34 of 37 shots and now has a .915 save percentage through three games this season.
