Alumni Update - Zach Jackson (Round Rock Express)
Left-hander Zach Jackson, a Seneca Valley High School graduate, last pitched in the major leagues in 2009. He is struggling is his attempt to get back.
Jackson is 3-9 with a 5.09 ERA in 15 games, 14 starts, for the Texas Rangers' Class AAA Round Rock farm club in the Pacific Coast League.
Jackson, 29, has appeared in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers (2006, 2008) and Cleveland Indians (2008-2009). However, he has had ERAs of at least 5.30 in each of the past four seasons at the Class AAA level with the Indians, Toronto Blue Jays and Rangers.
Jackson was a supplemental first-round draft pick by the Blue Jays in 2004 from Texas A&M and signed for $1,017,500. He had gone 57-55 with a 5.03 ERA in 216 minor-league games, including 143 starts, over nine seasons and 4-5 with a 5.81 ERA in 22 games, 17 starts, in parts of three major-league seasons.
