Seneca Valley boys volleyball team upsets North Allegheny in section match.
The Seneca Valley boys volleyball team moved into a tie for first place in Section 2-AAA with a 3-2 upset of five-time defending WPIAL Class AAA champion North Allegheny. Both teams now have a 10-1 record in the section with one match remaining.
North Allegheny jumped out to a commanding 2-0 lead with wins of 25-21 and 25-22. Seneca Valley rallied to tie the match with wins of 25-11 and 25-18. The Raiders then broke the tie with a 15-10 win in the fifth set.
Chad Albert and Brian Pudlo each had 16 kills for Seneca Valley, while Max McCloskey had 37 assists. Tim Pecora had 13 digs and Eric Speicher had seven blocks for the Raiders.
North Allegheny entered the match ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL in Class AAA, while Seneca Valley was No. 2. The two met in last year's WPIAL championship match with the Tigers posting a 3-1 victory.
North Allegheny plays host to North Hills on Thursday in its section finale. Seneca Valley's last match is at Butler.
