Alumni Update - Megan McCormick (Indiana University of Pennsylvania)
Indiana University of Pennsylvania senior first baseman Megan McCormick, a Seneca Valley High School graduate, was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference softball team.McCormick is a four-time All-PSAC first team selection at first base, where she leads the team with a .392 batting average this spring. She also leads the Crimson Hawks with 38 RBI and a .567 slugging percentage, raking nine doubles and four home runs.
She's one of the toughest players in the conference to strikeout, sitting down just seven times in 120 at bats this season and has a .486 on base percentage, fifth in the PSAC.
She was a very important part of IUP's run to the PSAC championship, hitting .563 during the conference tournament with nine hits in 16 at bats, driving in four runs and scoring four more herself. McCormick had an impressive .875 slugging percentage with two doubles and a home run and was flawless in the field.
McCormick had 16 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games this year and at one point had a 13-game hitting streak. During that streak, which included four PSAC Central contests, she hit .583 with a .778 slugging percentage and .688 on base percentage, driving in 17 runs, and struck out just once in 36 at bats.
McCormick has also helped lead IUP to its third straight NCAA postseason berth as the Crimson Hawks travel to Kutztown this weekend to compete in the Atlantic Regional 1 tournament.
