Ace Malky excelling again for Riverview baseball team

Written by Brad Everett on .

Anthony Malky is only 5-foot-7, making him one of the smallest players on the Riverview baseball team.

His contributions, however, are gigantic.

Malky is having his way with opposing hitters yet again this season for the Raiders, who are 6-3 overall, 3-2 in WPIAL Class AA Section 4. Among his top performances was a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and just one walk in a 1-0 section win against Steel Valley.

A junior right-hander, Malky is following up what was a breakout season in 2011. He went 6-1 with 78 strikeouts and was an all-section honoree. Malky’s strikeout total was the second-most in the WPIAL during the regular season.

Malky has been productive at the plate, as well. In an 11-4 victory against West Shamokin, Malky doubled, tripled and had five RBIs. He batted .500 last season.
