Boys' Soccer: West Feature Athlete - Riverside's Kyle Robertson

Written by Sports Town on .

Name: Kyle Robertson
High School: Riverside
Grade: 11
Sport: Soccer

Background info: Last year, Kyle Robertson wasn’t playing soccer. This year, he was one of the standouts as the goalkeeper for Riverside in the WPIAL Class A championship game, making an astounding 17 saves as the Panthers recorded a 2-1 double-overtime win over Greensburg Central Catholic. Many of those saves were outstanding, including one that was by less than an inch according to head coach Ben Huth.

Quotes from Coach Ben Huth: “We’re a small school and we’re always sharing athletes. It seems like every year for the last five years, I’ve had to recruit a goalie. The seniors run the summer workouts and they kept telling me 'wait ‘til you see this kid.' I’m happy Kyle decided to play and really happy he’ll be back for another year, now we can build on the year. He has made so much improvement over the year and his confidence has been building with the experience. He played a phenomenal game in the championship.”
