Riverside baseball team's bats are hot
Riverside, the defending WPIAL and PIAA Class AA champions, will be carrying some hot bats into its semifinal battle with Shady Side Academy Monday afternoon at 4:00 at the Burkett Complex in Robinson.
The third-seeded Panthers are 17-5 and second-seeded Shady Side is 17-2.
The Panthers will enter the game with an offense that has regained its big play capabilities – Riverside has scored 17 runs in its last 11 innings. Before that explosion in playoff wins of 11-4 over Greensburg Central Catholic and 6-3 over Deer Lakes, the Panthers had scored five runs in a game just once in the previous six outings.
The resurgence has been balanced, too, as five different players have had multi-hit games in the playoffs – Tyler Falk ( including a home run), Devin Kelosky (including a triple), Rob Hardy (including a double), Blaise McCarty, and Ian Sutherland. McCarty and Hardy have both recorded complete game wins as well.
