Riverside boys duo closes out scholastic career with tournament berth
Kevin Houghton and Dante Nardulli have been three-year starters for the Riverside boys tennis team. In what likely will be each of the two's final official athletic event representing the school, Houghton and Nardulli will be taking part in a WPIAL tournament.
Seniors Houghton and Nardulli will play Tym Hoban and Alex Kietz of Winchester Thurston in the first round of the WPIAL Class AA doubles tournament 1 p.m. today at North Allegheny. Hoban and Kietz are the No. 2 seed.
Houghton and Nardulli qualified for the WPIAL tournament by taking third place at the Section 2-AA doubles tournament last week at Brady's Run Park in Beaver Falls last Thursday. The Riverside paid outlasted Neshannock's Jono Acosta and Anthony Martone, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, in the section consolation match that would determine the third and final qualifier.
Houghton was a section singles semifinalist earlier last month.
