"The Riverside High School boys track team finished the regular season undefeated in section competition for the ninth consecutive year.

That's way too long to be an accident.

"We're getting so good it's almost scary," Panthers coach Charles Kotuby said.

The 27-member team easily advanced through its semifinal bracket last Wednesday on its home track, defeating Avonworth, 111.5-38.5, Riverview, 116-34, and Burgettstown, 119-31."

Riverside softball utilizes 'prevent' defense

Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Nicholas Tolomeo, on Riverside softball:

"Riverside wrapped up its section schedule with no blemishes in the loss column and nearly no blemishes in the run column either.

The Panthers (14-0, 12-0 before Wednesday's non-section regular-season finale against Butler Area) were one of the most dominant defensive teams in the WPIAL with a veteran infield playing behind senior pitcher Kirsten Wilson.

The only team to score against the Panthers all season was Mohawk. Riverside defeated Mohawk, 9-5 and 4-1. As for everyone else, Wilson and the Panthers shut them out."
