It didn’t take the Quaker Valley baseball team long to rebound from its first loss of the season.
After suffering a 7-1 loss against Beaver in the WPIAL Class AA championship last week, the Quakers (21-1) picked up a 6-5 win over District 10 champion Sagerstown on Monday at Jerry Uht Stadium in Erie.
“We don’t need to rebound from anything,” said Quaker Valley coach Todd Goble, after losing to Beaver. “That’s our first loss. All we need to do is keep in our same routine, go back to practice and start playing again.

"For the first time all season, the Quaker Valley baseball team has to find a way to rebound from a loss.
The Quakers dropped a 7-1 decision to Beaver Area in the WPIAL Class AA title game Tuesday at Consol Energy Park in North Franklin, Washington County.
They were trying to become the fifth team in history to win the WPIAL title with a perfect record (South Park would accomplish the feat later Tuesday night in the Class AAA title game)."
For only the second time in 29 years, the Quaker Valley baseball team will be playing for a WPIAL championship.
The Quakers, who last captured the program’s lone district title in 1984, enter the Class AA final with a perfect 21-0 record. Senior ace pitcher Jake Pilewicz tossed a four-hit shutout during Quaker Valley’s 4-0 semifinal win over Deer Lakes (17-4). Pilewicz also threw a one-hitter and retired 17 consecutive batters against Freeport in the quarterfinals.
Senior outfielder Clayton Bouchard notched a pair of hits, including a triple, with an RBI against Deer Lakes. The Quakers have won six games by way of a shutout this season.
Quaker Valley advanced to the Division 2 championship this year, where they lost 13-8 to Seton-LaSalle. On this Sports Town lacrosse Saturday, enjoy the following photos of the Quakers as they fought through the championship game on Thursday:
