Alumni Update - Tabitha Bemis (Edinboro)

Written by Sports Town on .

BemisTabithaEdinboro sophomore Tabitha Bemis, a Quaker Valley High School graduate, was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Bemis also garnered the same award at the conclusion of the PSAC indoor season in March.

Bemis becomes the first athlete from Edinboro to win a Field Athlete of the Year award since the track and field awards were split up for the 2006 outdoor season. She is also the first Fighting Scot individual since Kelly Richards was named the Track Athlete of the Year in 2006 to garner a postseason outdoor award.

After an outstanding indoor season in which she won the long jump and triple jump and placed second in the 60-meter hurdles at the PSAC indoor meet before All-American finishes in both the long jump and triple jump, Bemis duplicated her success at the PSAC outdoor meet. She won both the long jump and triple jump once again and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, just .01 of a second behind the champion.

Bemis set school records in all three events and was named both the field MVP and the overall MVP of the PSAC Championships. She qualified for the NCAA Division II meet in both field events, placing 11th in the long jump and 15th in the triple jump.
