Plum’s Baleno and Rings both made All-Section and All-WPIAL
The Mustangs (9-5-3, 6-3-3) had another solid season and playoff appearance. Now, the players are receiving due credit.
Senior forward Matthew Baleno and senior midfielder Shane Rings were both selected to the list of All-Section (3-AAA) and All-WPIAL all-stars. Both Rings and Baleno will be playing in premier tournaments in the near future as well.
Junior midfielder Steve Hemmerle has recently joined an Arsenal club team. “It will give him some exposure to regional and national events,” said Plum head coach Mike Baleno. Baleno added that junior defender Corey Williams has recently joined with Allegheny Force Football Club AFFC.
“Corey Williams and Steve Hemmerle are two of the juniors we’re looking to to lead us after this year’s seniors graduate,” said Baleno.
As for the Plum organization, Baleno explained that there will be ample opportunities to advance in soccer over the coming months.
“We do some training over the winter,” said Baleno. “We have open gym at the high school, technical training for the younger guys to get them different touches on the ball. We’ll bring the younger guys up to speed with all the shoes that need filled with seniors graduating.”
