Alumni Update - Jason Barbarino (Gannon)
Gannon junior goalkeeper Jason Barbarino was a first-team selection on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Team.Barbarino secured his first career All-PSAC honor. The Plum High School graduate has played every minute in goal this season, owning a 1.24 goals against average and .816 save percentage.
Barbarino leads the PSAC in saves per match (5.35) and total saves. In addition, he ranks second among conference players in save percentage and fifth in goals against average.
Barbarino ranks 14th among all NCAA Division II players in total saves, 25th in saves per match and 32nd in save percentage.
Barbarino's six shutouts equal the sixth-highest single-season total in school history. His 102 saves represent the third-highest single-season total in school history and is only 25 shy of the school record.
Barbarino ranks fifth all-time at Gannon in career saves (156) and sixth in career shutouts (8).
Gannon (13-5) advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory against No. 20 Davis & Elkins.
The Golden Knights will face Mercyhurst on a neutral field at Southern New Hampshire. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The winner advances to play the East regional champion in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 1 p.m.
