Sane approach helps Plum cope with lopsided losses

"Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
That old maxim gave Plum baseball coach Carl Vollmer inspiration to shake things up following a pair of lopsided losses to Seneca Valley and Central Catholic earlier in the season. The Mustangs (11-3, 8-1) dropped the pair of games -- one to the section-rival Vikings -- by a combined score of 22-2.
After that, Vollmer decided to get back to basics in practice, focusing on executing defensive fundamentals that seemed to lapse in the two losses.
"When you get smacked in the mouth, like we did by Seneca Valley and Central Catholic on back-to-back days, you realize that something's got to change," Vollmer said.
Something changed, indeed. After those two losses, the Mustangs ripped off eight wins in a row and look poised to challenge for their second consecutive section title."
