PG's girls' sports Athlete of the Week is Peters Township's Olivia Roberson
Last week: Roberson has been one of the key players for Peters Township all season and acted accordingly in the PIAA championship. With her team entering the second half in a scoreless draw with Cumberland Valley, Roberson delivered a cross to teammate Emily Franty, who scored what would prove to be the game's only goal nearly five minutes into the second half.
Check this out: Finishing the season with a 24-1 record, Peters Township is just the second Class AAA team to win three consecutive PIAA girls soccer titles. The Indians were led by two Division I-bound players in Roberson (Duquesne), as well as teammate Veronica Latsko (Virginia).
• How did it feel to be able to pull off the third consecutive title? It was definitely a feeling that words can't describe. Winning three years in a row is unheard of, and. for our team to do it, we feel untouchable. We really feel like a family.
• Are you getting excited for your upcoming college career? I'm so pumped. I'm kind of nervous having to do that freshman role again and finding my spot on the team. I've got a lot to prove, but I'm excited. It's going to be a fun team.
• What made you choose Duquesne? I wanted a Division I school because I love soccer, but I didn't want it to be everything. I want to put my education first and balance everything out. Duquesne was perfect for me, especially because I want to do nursing. It's a perfect blend between athletics and academics.
• What's your favorite movie you've seen recently? At states every year, we go see Twilight as a team, so this past Friday, we saw the newest Twilight. Right now, that's my favorite movie because of going with my team and the bonding. It was a really good movie.
