Alumni Update - Jimmy Gallagher (Birmingham Barons)

GallagherJimAfter spending all of last season and the first 56 games this year at the Class AAA level, Peters Township High School graduate Jimmy Gallagher now finds himself back at Class AA in the Chicago White Sox's farm system.

The first baseman was demoted from Charlotte to Birmingham recently after hitting just .215 with no home runs and 18 RBIs for the Knights. Since joining Birmingham, Gallagher is hitting .313 with one homer and four RBIs in eight games.

Gallagher, 26, was the White Sox's seventh-round draft pick in 2007 and signed for $81,500. Baseball America rated him as the best defensive first baseman in the White Sox's farm system after last season.

Gallagher has played in 644 minor-league games in six seasons, hitting .273 with 52 homers and 307 RBIs.
