"A little more than 24 hours after his team's opening-round playoff win, Peters Township coach Gary Goga tried his best not to reflect on that game, while earnestly attempting to look ahead to this Saturday's WPIAL quarterfinals.
Goga spoke glowingly about how his players have toughened up mentally as the season has progressed, and how nothing really fazes his young squad.
That mental toughness sure has been put to the test this week and will be again Saturday when the No. 13 seed Indians (12-11) face No. 12 Central Catholic (13-10) in a WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinal at a time and place to be determined.
"This group is mentally tough," Goga said. "The mental toughness they have accumulated through the year has been great. They've come together."
How Peters Township follows up its 67-56 first-round upset of No. 4 Woodland Hills will have a lot to say about that. The main question isn't if the Indians will suffer a letdown, but rather how they respond to the wild incident that occurred in the victory against the Wolverines."
