Penn-Trafford hockey team in rebuilding mode
Before the season started, Penn-Trafford hockey coach Brian Lehneke said his team would have to adjust to being a more defensive team this season.
With such a young team — the Warriors returned only one player from its varsity roster last season — that adjustment process is going to take time.
Penn-Trafford has given up 20 goals in two games, starting out the season 0-2. The Warriors lost just two games all of last regular season in earning the Class AAA No. 1 seed for the Penguins Cup playoffs.
But team lost all its defenseman from last season, as well as starting goaltender Michael Cheswick. The team has given up 75 shots in the two contests.
The team also lost three of the top four scorers in Class AAA last season. The only returning player from last season’s roster, Jake Miller, is leading the team with three points.
Penn-Trafford will return to the ice Monday when they host Central Catholic.
