Brad Everett of the Tri-State Sports & News Service profiles Bob Goin, a Penn Hills native who was recently inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame. Goin is the former athletic director at Florida State, Cincinnati, Bethany, and California University of Pennsylvania. Click here to read his story.
"Growing up in Penn Hills in the 1940s and '50s, Bob Goin exerted a lot of his time and energy into athletics.
"I played all the sports when I was young. That was the thing to do and I enjoyed it," Goin said. "We didn't have computers. We didn't have a television until I was in high school. Life was a little different."
While times changed and technology advanced, one aspect of Goin's life never altered, that being his love for sports.
Goin's lifetime of service to athletics has had many chapters and is filled with countless milestones. The most recent, he said, was a nice way to finish the book.
Goin was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Hall of Fame last Friday at a ceremony in Orlando, Fla."
