Our Lady of the Sacred Heart baseball team has been living charmed life

Written by Sports Town on .

Monday afternoon at 5:00, the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart baseball team (16-5) faces the tall task of taking on top-seeded Neshannock (19-2), featuring John Sansone, the leading hitter in the WPIAL regular season with a .660 batting average. But the Chargers have pretty accustomed to facing long odds.

Just to get to the playoffs, they needed an eight-run rally with two outs and no one out against Chartiers-Houston and to end the 29-game winning streak of Serra Catholic’s Alain Girman. They did that in the same week, making the week seemingly impossible to top… but they did.

This past week in the playoffs, they got a near-perfect game from Tim Mulvey to sneak past Beth-Center 1-0 in the first round and then needed a reversed call by a first base umpire to send the game to extra innings against defending champion Serra Catholic and win 6-5 in nine innings.

Now, the Chargers get to try on the glass slipper one more time.
