Track photos: Future of Norwin girls' track after PIAA championships

(Photo: Freshman Cameron Gurdowski ran the 3200-meter event for Norwin at the May 4 Baldwin invitational. Much of Norwin's success in 2012 comes from the development of strong distance runners.)
The PIAA track and field championships are done, and Norwin senior distance specialist Autumn Greba was solid in the mile. Greba's time of 4:56.99 was good for fourth place.
However, Greba is graduating this year. Jenna Kuhn, another strong distance runner for NOrwin, will also graduate this year and run for Duquesne in college. For this reason, the Norwin track team is training a promising group of freshmemn.
While Norwin's sprinters are young, many of them are already showing veteran speed. Kelsey Plecenik ran with the 4x400-meter relay team, notching times in the 4:18 vicinity. Additionally, Plecenik medaled in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the 2012 WCCA meet. Her times were 13.18 seconds and 27.07 seconds, respectively.
Along with Plecenik, Amanda Beatty and Marlee Bivens are freshmen sprinters for Norwin. The Norwin girls' track team is expected to remain a relevant force in WPIAL track and field.
