North Hills girls lacrosse team's win streak reaches 40
Perfection.
Every team hopes for it, but few achieve that elusive goal.
For the North Hills High girls lacrosse team, perfection has been achieved twice. But it didn't come easily.
Playing the semifinals and the finals on their home turf at Martorelli Stadium, the Indians edged Shaler Area 13-12 in Tuesday's Division 2 semifinals and ended the season with an 11-10 come-from victory over Chartiers Valley.
Emily Jamison's seventh goal of the game snapped a 10-10 tie in the second half and earned the Indians the title. Earlier in the second half, Jamison's sixth goal tied the game at 10-10.
The Indians end their season with a 20-0 record, matching the perfect mark they achieved in 2011. There will be no more games as WPIAL Division 2 teams cannot advance beyond the regional championship as there is no PIAA tournament setup for Division 2 teams.
One wonders what might happen if the Indians could participate in a Division 2 state tournament. Or how they might do if the team chose to move up to Division 1.
