Unbeaten North Hills meets rival Shaler in Division 2 girls lacrosse semifinal

Written by Joe Koch on .

North Hills puts its two-year unbeaten streak on the line as the 18-0 Indians -- ranked No. 5 among Western Pennsylvania girls teams by Laxpower.com -- meets No. 9 Shaler Area at North Hills in a WPIAL Division 2 girls lacrosse semifinal on Tuesday night.

The Titans advanced with an 11-7 victory over The Ellis School last Friday night. North Hills endured a 13-9 slugfest with Baldwin last Thursday to advance.

If the regular season is any indication, Tuesday's game could go down to the final minute, and maybe longer.
North Hills won both regular-season games with the Titans, but both games were quite close. The Indians eked out a 16-14 decision at Shaler Area on April 18, and the Indians won the rematch, 12-9, on May 9.

The winners meet on Thursday, also at North Hills. Regardless of the outcome, the title game will be the final game for both teams. There is no PIAA state playoff provision for either boys or girls teams that play in Division 2.
