After winning just two games last year, the North Hills baseball team has made itself a competitive presence during the first half of this season in Section 1-AAAA.
The Indians (7-5, 3-2) picked up three section wins last week and are looking to make a push for their first postseason appearance since 2007. North Hills earned an 8-7 win over Fox Chapel on April 12, beat Butler on April 15, 10-5, and went on to top New Castle on April 16, 8-2.
“Knowing that they have already more than doubled the win total from last year helps me be able to get them to believe in themselves,” first-year coach Randy Miller said.

The Pittsburgh Penguins weren't the only team to see a long winning streak come to an end this week.
A day before the Penguins dropped a 4-1 decision to the Buffalo Sabres that ended a 15-game winning streak, the North Hills High girls lacrosse team saw an unbeaten streak that spanned more than two years come to an end with a 13-12 non-section loss to Hempfield on April 1.
Seton-LaSalle is the defending champion in the North Hills Tournament, which will be held Saturday April 6. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with seven team participating.
The seven entries are: Beaver County Christian, Canon-McMillan, Moon, North Hills, Seton-LaSalle, St. Joseph, and Seton-LaSalle.
