Fragapane continues to help North Catholic football team
P.J. Fulmore has been a driving force behind the North Catholic football team. One of the top rushers in the WPIAL this season, the sophomore running back has gained 1,513 yards and 22 touchdowns in 11 games.
Jarred Fragapane, however, also has played a crucial role in the Trojans’ backfield. A 6-foot-3, 215-pound junior fullback, Fragapane proved to be valuable last week during North Catholic’s 22-15 quarterfinal victory over Rochester in the Class A playoffs. Fragapane converted a pair of fourth-and-1 attempts during the final quarter against the Rams.
A Deer Lakes transfer, Fragapane has been Fulmore’s lead blocker this season and has rushed for 186 yards and six touchdowns on 36 carries.
The Trojans (9-2) advance to the Class A semifinals this week and will face No. 2-seed Sto-Rox (10-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dormont Stadium. The two teams previously met in the first round of the 2010 playoffs and North Catholic topped the Vikings, 10-8.
