Alumni Update - Sean Murphy (Stockton Ports)

Starting seems to agree with Sean Murphy.

The right-hander is in his first season as a full-time starting pitcher in the Oakland Athletics' farm system and performing quite well. The North Catholic High School graduate has gone a combined 7-6 with a 2.38 ERA in 15 starts with the Athletics' two full-season Class A clubs, Stockton in the California League and Burlington in the Midwest League.

Murphy, 23, is 4-2 with a 2.84 ERA in seven starts since being promoted to Stockton. At Burlington, he was 3-4 with a 1.97 ERA in eight starts.

Murphy was the Athletics' 33rd-round draft choice in 2010 from Keystone College in La Plume, Pa. He has a 12-9 career record in three minor-league seasons with two saves and a 3.40 ERA in 45 games, including 22 starts.
