The Robert Morris women's rowing team was honored with a weekly award by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for the second time this season, earning Varsity Four Boat of the Week.

At the Car-Du-Pitt-Romo last Friday in Pittsburgh, the boat that consisted of juniors Gretchen Gailey (Beaver), Jamie Witsch (North Catholic) and Ashley Wright (Pine-Richland), sophomore Megan Coleman (Northgate) and freshman Julie Miller (North Catholic) won its heat thanks to a time of 7:53.80.

The Colonials finished ahead of Pitt's "A" boat, Duquesne, John Carroll and Carnegie Mellon. The time also ranked third overall in two heats of varsity four action, trailing only the Duquesne "B" squad and Case Western.

RMU will look for its first conference championship this weekend by traveling to West Windsor, N.J., for the 2012 MAAC Rowing Championships at Lake Mercer.

The Colonials, in their second season as an associate member of the MAAC in women's rowing, did not compete in the 2011 championships after the event was canceled due to poor weather conditions.
