Leftwich leading the way for North Allegheny football team

Written by John D'Abruzzo on .

Mack Leftwich continues to prove that he’s one of the most elite senior football players in the WPIAL this season.

The North Allegheny quarterback threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score to guide the top-seeded Tigers past Bethel Park last week, 42-14, in a Class AAAA quarterfinal game.

Leftwich completed 11 of 14 passes for 132 yards and connected with receivers Brendan Coniker and Gregg Garrity on touchdown tosses of 12 and 20 yards. Leftwich also paced the Tigers’ running game with 91 yards on 12 carries.

“Mack’s a great quarterback and obviously he wants to throw the football,” North Allegheny coach Art Walker said. “It’s tough to argue with any quarterback who’s going to tell you he wants to throw all the time. He’s such a team guy.”

Through 11 games, Leftwich has completed 99 of 159 pass attempts for 2,051 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Behind Leftwich, the Tigers (11-0) have defeated 27 consecutive WPIAL Class AAAA opponents and will meet No. 4 Seneca Valley for a second time this season in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at North Hills High School.
