Griffin leads North Allegheny hockey team over Central Catholic

Senior Joe Griffin, North Allegheny’s leading scorer last season, scored two goals in the third period to give the Tigers a 3-1 win over Central Catholic in the season opener for both teams Tuesday.

Griffin scored with less than four minutes to play to give the team a 2-1 lead, then added an empty netter for the final score.

Shane Snyder also scored for the Tigers and added an assist.

Bradford Thornburgh got the win in goal, stopping 23 of 24 shots.
