Kruetzer's even-par round boosts North Allegheny boys' golf team
Seth Kruetzer fired an even-par round of 35 to lead North Allegheny to a 182-215 victory over Butler on Tuesday afternoon at Butler Country Club. The round was Kreutzer's best of the year against high school competition.
Three Tigers -- Martin Lazzaro, John McCabe and Josh Huhn -- were a stroke behind. Brandon Maiello's 39 rounded out the scoring.
Tommy Dimon led Butler with a five-over-par round of 40. Gino Baroffio (42) and Connor Gray (43) were next for the Golden Tornado, while Jake Campbell (45), Sam Weston (45) and Corey Pizor (45) -- all had matching scores.
A day later, the Tigers earned victories over Seneca Valley (189-192) and North Hills (189-220) in a match played at Diamond Run.
Seneca Valley's Mike Trotta led all competitors with a round of 34. Kevin O'Brien led the Tigers with a round of 35. Alex Bowen paced North Hills with a 38.
North Allegheny coach DeDe Rittman will send six players to the WPIAL Class AAA, Section 3 qualifier next Tuesday. They are O'Brien, McCabe, Kreutzer, Maiello, Huhn and Lazzaro.
