North Allegheny boys’ track team’s toughest semifinal matchup was with Gateway
With scores like 131-19 over Knoch and 115-35 over Greensburg Salem, it’s easy to see how lop-sided North Allegheny’s semifinal wins were. But the North Allegheny boys’ track team only beat Gateway’s 85-65.
To size up the Tigers a little more, we can note some results from Friday’s Baldwin Invitational. Kyle Shivetts won fourth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.28s. Shivetts won the 200-meter dash outright with a time of 22.28. Vincent Tonzo won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.45. And, Logan Steiner and Timothy Appman took second and third (respectively) in the 3200-meter run.
North Allegheny’s results from field events last Friday at Baldwin did not stand out as much as the Tigers’ running events. Like all teams, it’s most likely that North Allegheny will step up efforts for team competition tomorrow, though. Hempfield and West Mifflin are both strong in field events.
