Alumni Update - Rebecca Riemer (Westminster)
Westminster junior Rebecca Riemer was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).Riemer, a Mt. Lebanon High School graduate, earned first-team honors for NCAA Division III District 4 for the second straight year. As a first-team selection, Riemer will be on the ballot for Academic All-America status which will be selected later this month.
Riemer, a biology major with a 3.98 grade-point average, was a second-year starting outside hitter for the Titans in 2012. She ranked third in the conference with a .313 hitting percentage. Riemer also led the team with 334 kills and 100 blocks.
Westminster posted a 22-11 record in 2012 and a fifth-place record of 11-7 in PAC matches. The Titans' 22 wins marked their 14th season with 20-plus wins under head coach Tammy Swearingen.
To be nominated for the Academic All-District teams a student must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and have competed at his or her current institution for one year.
