Mount Pleasant softball team on top of the mountain
There are five section games remaining for the Mount Pleasant softball team but it will be hard to imagine somebody topping the Vikings from their perch atop the Section 4-AA mount.
Mount Pleasant (7-0) currently holds a 1.5 game lead over Greensburg Central Catholic (6-2) for the section lead. South Allegheny (4-3) and Southmoreland (3-3) are also in contention.
A lot can happen in five section games but taking a look at Mount Pleasant’s first half of the season, shows how tough of an out the Vikings are. The first time around in section play Mount Pleasant outscored East Allegheny, Greensburg Central Catholic, Jeannette, Steel Valley, South Allegheny and Southmoreland by a combined 56-8. The Vikings then opened the second half of its section schedule with its biggest win yet, a 13-1 decision at East Allegheny.
Mount Pleasant went 11-1 in the section last season to edge the Centurions by one game. The teams meet one more time this season, April 24 at Mount Pleasant.
