Moon hockey team continues solid play

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

It isn’t hard to see why Moon currently sits atop the Section 1-AA standings.

The Tigers have two players, Trevor Handlovitch and Jake Coleman, who are in the top five in scoring in Class AA. Handlovitch sits in second with 14 points, while Coleman is fifth with 11 points, despite missing two games.

Meanwhile, Moon goaltender J.T. Owens is currently second in the classification in save percentage and fifth in goals-against average among players that have started more than one game.

The Tigers are currently 3-1-1 and lead the section with seven points, one point ahead of North Hills. Only Hampton and Latrobe have a better goal differential in Class AA than Moon’s plus-12 (25-13).

The Tigers return to the ice next Thursday when they play Chartiers Valley at the Airport Ice Arena.
