Moon boys lacrosse teams ends season with 10 victories

Written by Joe Koch on .

A year ago, Moon Area High ended the season with just one victory.

But with an 8-1 victory over Fairview last Saturday, the Tigers' fortunes increased tenfold. A 9-7 loss to Erie Cathedral Prep later in the day may have dampened the Tigers' spirits, but the team still finished with a 10-7 record. Quite a contrast from the 1-6 report card Moon Area had in its initial season.

Highlights this year for the Independent team included a 7-6 double-overtime victory Division 1 Trinity and a 9-8 double-overtime victory over Division 2 playoff participant Seton-LaSalle. That victory avenged a 12-0 shellacking the Rebels dealt the Tigers in the third game of the season.

Moon Area played six games against Division 2 opponents and the Trinity game was their lone game against a Division 1 foe. In those games, Moon Area compiled a 4-3 record.

The Tigers lost their first three games against Independent foes, but rebounded nicely to finish with a 6-4 record against Independents.
